LGBTQ History

   New Hope Celebrates: The NHC History archive contains hundreds of digitized images – collections of personal artifacts, papers, photographs, audiovisual recordings, and organizational records. These collections include unpublished material such as letters, diaries,and scrapbooks documenting the lives of New Hope’s LGBTQ+ population, community leaders, and local gay legends. The Free Library of New Hope and Solebury also hosts a kiosk dedicated to NHC history (currently unavailable due to Covid-19).

   College and Research Libraries: Gay is Good: An excellent list of free databases, oral history collections, media and legal documents that chronicle gay history.

   Stonewall Uprising: Library of Congress: The first Pride parade was a riot—literally! This article provides information on this historic event in LGBTQ history. Please consult the library for additional information on this topic.

LGBTQ Community Organizations:

    New Hope Celebrates:  New Hope Celebrates brings people together to share in a celebration of our history, diversity and the inclusiveness of our community.

    Bucks LGBTQ Centers: The Bucks LGBTQ Centers provide individual, couples & family services for the LGBTQ+ community. We are also here for those simply seeking connection to others & resources to affirming providers.

    The Rainbow Room: The Rainbow Room is an LGBTQIA youth program that provides a supportive and empowering environment for youth ages 14-21. Weekly meetings are a free and confidential place where you can learn, build support networks, and have fun. 

   FACT Bucks County: FACT (Fighting AIDS Continuously Together) is a volunteer, non-profit 501.3c organization registered in PA. with one purpose; to maintain the quality of life for those affected and infected by HIV/AIDS.

    Bradley-Sullivan Center: The Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center creates a vibrant LGBTQ+ community in the Lehigh Valley through arts, health, youth, and pride programs as well as supportive services, training, and advocacy.
