Using the Library

Your Bucks County Public Library Card allows you to:

  • ​Borrow books, DVD, CDs and more
  • Place holds and reserve items
  • Make computer reservations
  • Search databases

To get a library card please visit the Library to fill out a registration form. You will need a valid photo ID and proof of address if not shown on your ID. Individuals under 16 years of age will need a parent present when registering for a card.

There is a $3.00 replacement fee for lost cards.  Non-residents must pay a $35 yearly membership fee.

Items may be borrowed for three weeks for most books and sound recordings, two weeks for new books, one week for movies and two weeks for television series.

​At any given time, patrons may borrow up to 100 books and audio books, 20 music CDs, 10 magazines and 10 DVDs.

Late fees are .25 per day for books, magazines and CDs. $1.00 per day for DVDs. $5.00 a day for museum passes.

​Items may be borrowed and returned to any library in the Bucks County public library system.

Users may apply for a library card online to receive temporary immediate access to the e-catalog. Please come into the library with your valid photo ID and proof of address within three months to change your status to permanent.

Circulation Policies as Adopted By the Bucks County Library System

Books and sound recordings for e-readers, ipods and other electronic devices are available for download free of charge. Please access our page on downloads for information as to how to get started.

Is the item that you want already checked out or do you need an item from another Bucks County Public Library location? Just place a hold!

​The item will be sent to the Bucks County Public Library of your choice when it becomes available.

To place a hold, click the “Place Hold” link when you locate the item in the Library Catalog. A valid Bucks County Library card number and PIN is required.

A library staff member will also be happy to help you place a hold.

Interlibrary Loans

Looking for an item that is not in the Bucks County Public Library Catalog? We may be able to request it via interlibrary loan.  To find out more or to place a request, please ask a staff member for assistance.

The Library offers free internet access computers available to the public for up to 2 hours per patron per day. A fourth patron computer is available for 15 minute sessions, if it is not in use as a catalog computer.

A Bucks County Public Library card and PIN are required for logging in. Guest passes are available at the circulation desk for out-of-county vistors.

If all computers are busy and patrons are waiting, the Library reserves the right to ask a patron who has been on a computer for more than 30 minutes to end his or her session so someone who is waiting may have a turn.

Printing is .20 per page.

The library also offers wireless access for patrons with their own wireless-ready computers. A Bucks County Library card and PIN are required.

Other Services

  • 3-D Printing – The library offers a 3-D printer for patron use. Reservations should be made in advance. The cost of printing is $1 an hour to cover the additional electrical costs. Builds under one hour are free. The build time is estimated at the beginning of the build, so users are asked to bear in mind that the actual build time may exceed the estimated time and an additional charge may incur.   • Proctoring – Proctoring service is available at the rate of $25 per hour. Those interested should call in advance and make arrangements with the director.
